(INDIANAPOLIS)…. Former Indiana Lieutenant Governor John Mutz announced today he is endorsing the candidacy of Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard for Secretary of State.
“I watched Greg Ballard take Indiana’s largest city, from being mired in debt, caused by poor management, to the economic miracle of the Midwest in a very short time. He impressively continued our Capital’s momentum through his entire 8-year tenure and left his office scandal-free with a very bright future.”
According to Mutz, Ballard accomplished this remarkable turnaround by applying recognized business and military management principles. Prior to ousting the incumbent and being elected Mayor in 2007, Ballard served our nation as a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, responsible for logistics and materiel movement between the U.S. and combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired honorably after 23 years as a senior officer in the Corps.
Ballard Focused 24/7 on the mission of respecting and creating opportunity for all citizens of America’s 13th largest city to thrive in a manner of their choosing.
“Ballard has the maturity, vision and management experience that make him the clear choice, regardless of party, for restoring honor and efficiency to one of Indiana’s most important elected positions”, said Mutz. In addition:
- A Ballard Secretary of State tenure would create a new avenue for access to the Public Square for Hoosiers who have been shut out, by launching the independent Lincoln Party, named after Indiana’s most famous Son.
- Ballard will immediately create a “Team of Rivals” advisory group of conflict-free Hoosiers to capture and implement non-partisan programs that will Increase Hoosiers’ knowledge of candidates on the ballot each year.
- Provide for accountable ballot security, including photo-ID; and provide un-biased regulation of business and securities investment by making the office of Security Commissioner the most transparent in the Nation.
Ballard is best known for bringing the hugely successful 2012 Super Bowl to Indianapolis. The event cemented Indy’s reputation as being the best producer of World-class sports events in America. He also opened Lucas Oil Stadium, oversaw expansion of education options for Indianapolis children, successfully recruited corporate headquarters to the city, and eliminated the practice of borrowing for daily government operation expenses.
He has earned three higher education degrees and two honorary doctorates.
John Mutz served Indiana as Lt. Governor from 1981-1989. He has since worked to advance the future of Indiana through leadership positions at major foundations, and leadership academies.
